Demand for new cars in the EU increased for a 20th consecutive month in April 2015, with registrations growing 6.9%. 1,166,482 new passenger cars were registered last month – the best April performance since 2009.
All major markets in the region experienced growth, with Italy’s 24.2% increase contributing significantly, while registrations in Germany (6.3%), the UK (5.1%), Spain (3.2%) and France (2.3%) were also strong.
Year-to-date values also remain positive compared with the same period in 2014, with 4,695,058 units registered in the first four months of the year – an increase of 8.2%. The Spanish (23.9%), Italian (16.2%), UK (6.4%), German (6.4%) and French (5.6%) markets all grew over this period.
