SMMT will host an aftermarket-focused conference and networking event on Thursday 9 June as part of its programme of activities at Automechanika Birmingham 2016.
The SMMT Aftermarket Forum will be open to senior delegates from the independent component supply and workshop network, offering insight and potential new business opportunities.
Through thought-provoking panel discussions and presentations, the Forum will cover a range of issues, from the practical day-to-day challenges and opportunities that exist in the independent aftermarket, to horizon topics, expected to affect the sector in the coming years.
As well as discussion on parts distribution, warehousing, customer satisfaction and skills, speakers will address how the industry might tackle challenges relating to connected vehicle technologies and data privacy.
Registration for the show and other SMMT events running at Automechanika Birmingham, including Meet the Buyer, Open Forum and Logistics Forum, will open shortly.
Initial enquiries and stand space bookings indicate this will be the largest debut show outside Frankfurt.
The new UK exhibition reflects the huge success generated by the original Automechanika event at the Frankfurt Messe, which has now expanded into events at 15 international locations, making it the most successful OEM and aftermarket supplier show series globally.
Simon Albert, event director, Automechanika Birmingham, said: “The response to the launch proves the need for an automotive event of this type in the UK. It is destined to become the key home for both supply chain and aftermarket companies and visitors which no other event has been able to offer”.
