Labour Ministers have racked up nearly 280,000 miles in ministerial cars over the past 2 years.
The fleet of mostly non-electric cars covered 278,969 miles Janet Finch-Saunders MS, Shadow Climate Change Minister, was told in a written reply by the First Minister.
Afterwards she said, “This revelation undermines Labour’s green credentials and their hypocrisy is plain to see.
“It is beyond belief that Labour ministers are preaching to the public to ditch private cars and take up public transport, while at the same time living the life of luxury being ferried around in chauffeur-driven gas-guzzling cars.”
She added, “They should be leading by example, especially as they are constantly banging the drum about people joining the green revolution.”
Natasha Asghar MS, Shadow Transport Minister, went on, “I’ve previously spoken about Labour’s hypocrisy on transport and once again there appears to be one rule for the public and a different rule for Labour Ministers.
“Labour’s continuing war on motorists is an attempt to force people out of their cars under the guise of being eco-friendly, yet Labour are racking up the mileage in their ministerial chauffeur driven cars.”
