Cardiff’s camera car has caught the first motorists illegally parked on pedestrian crossings and too close to schools.
The first 11 Fixed Penalty Charge Notices for stopping illegally on zig zag lines were issued this week.
Three PCN’s were issued for illegal parking on zig zag lines around schools, with a further eight issued for parking on zig zags close to pedestrian crossings.
Motorists in Cardiff who park illegally and ignore traffic regulations are being targeted by an enforcement car run by the City of Cardiff Council.
Since the launch, the car has been patrolling the city issuing warning notices giving the public plenty of opportunity to change their driving habits.
The car is fitted with a rooftop CCTV camera and Automatic Number Plate Recognition technology.
The car will be patrolling a number of routes around the city and specific emphasis will be placed on illegal parking around schools in order to improve road safety and change driving habits in the Welsh Capital.
