Renault plants in France have been raided by police.
The workers union said they were checking on engine control units but police did not confirm this and Renault merely said the probe was into equipment they used on the lines but police removed the computers of several directors.
Sweden has opened a preliminary fraud investigation into Volkswagen over the emissions test cheating which has affected up to 11 million vehicles worldwide.
Sweden’s National Unit Against Corruption said the preliminary investigation was regarding serious fraud and the keeping of false records.
