Manifattura Automobili Torino, a boutique car manufacturer, and Jannarelly Automotive, a designer and developer of ultralight sports cars, have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding to collaborate on automotive design, engineering and production projects.
The two businesses will kick-off their collaboration by transferring production of Jannarelly’s Design-1 from Jannarelly’s workshop in Dubai, U.A.E. to M.A.T.’s ISO-certified facility in Torino, Italy and they employ about 75 people in Italy and Dubai.
M.A.T. will apply its expertise to build the Design-1 for a global market. Weighing just 1,786 pounds, the 325 horsepower Jannarelly Design-1 is a true back-to-basics sports car, which rewards its drivers with a thoroughly engaging and visceral driving experience and costs around £86,000 in the UK.
In addition, the companies have agreed to commence work on the development of Jannarelly’s next car, the Design-2 GT coupe, which will mark Jannarelly’s entry into the rapidly growing ‘restomod’ market. Further details regarding the Design-2 will be made available in the coming months.
Alongside this new development and production agreement, both companies will build a shared business development team. This will connect M.A.T.’s centre of excellence in Torino, with Jannarelly’s teams in Dubai and Los Angeles, to capitalise on new opportunities, including in vehicle electrification.
