Transport Minister, Edwina Hart, has given the go-ahead for the Welsh Government’s preferred route for the Newtown bypass after considering the findings of the Public Inquiry.
Following an inquiry into objections to the 5.8km bypass, the planning inspector concluded that the proposed route should proceed. Completion of the statutory processes is now underway and work could start before the end of this year.
The 5.8km bypass will follow a west to east route to the south of Newtown. The proposed carriageways will allow safe overtaking opportunities in both directions with the provision of a 2+1 carriageway.
