RAC calls for fuel price cut at pumps
The RAC is today urging the UK’s biggest fuel retailers to cut the price of petrol by at least 5p a litre to 150p to reflect their far lower wholesale costs. As it stands the Government’s 5p duty cut brought in shortly after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine last year is not benefitting drivers struggling to cope with the cost-of-living crisis and, instead appears only to be helping retailers who have … [Read more...]

Supermarkets cashing in during crisis, says RAC
Following news that lower fuel prices helped reduce inflation last month new RAC analysis has revealed supermarket margins on petrol and diesel have more than doubled since Russia invaded Ukraine. Prior to the start of the war in Ukraine the big four supermarkets, which dominate UK fuel retailing, were making a margin of just under 5p (4.7p) a litre on fuel – 3.7p for petrol and 5.7p for diesel. … [Read more...]
Gov. will probe supermarkets’ fuel pricing
The Competition and Markets Authority will probe fuel prices and the role of Supermarkets in a study it began last year. While the evidence shows that the majority of fuel price increases are due to global factors, such as the Russian invasion of Ukraine, indications are that higher pump prices cannot be attributed solely to factors outside the control of the retailer, the CMA said in a … [Read more...]

In fact, on two days last week wholesale diesel was cheaper than … [Read more...]

Peter Golding, managing director at the fleet management software specialist explained that interest in fuel management at a corporate level often tended to rise and fall in correlation to pump prices but that an ongoing, strategic approach to fuel … [Read more...]
Fuel prices still a rip-off for motorists
While December saw the average price of fuel fall by 9p a litre saving drivers £5 a tank, the RAC believes drivers should have seen much bigger drops due to far lower wholesale costs. RAC Fuel Watch data shows petrol fell by 8.4p last month to 151.06p making a full 55-litre tank for a family car £4.63 cheaper (£83.08). Diesel came down by 9.4p to 173.97p meaning a complete fill-up was £5.19 less … [Read more...]
