Next year’s Rallyday will shift from September to June to avoid a World Rally Championship clash and secure some of the sport’s biggest stars and cars.
Rallyday will celebrate its 20th anniversary with a Saturday June 20 date in 2020 and this year will feature the latest sporting vehicles from MS-RT in Pontypool.
M-Sport Ford World Rally Team principal Richard Millener says the change of date makes it easier for Britain’s only World Rally Championship manufacturer to support the Castle Combe event.
Rallyday 2017 was the first place a current generation World Rally Car ran when now world champion Ott Tänak demonstrated the Fiesta WRC.
Rallyday’s Tom Davis said, “Colin – and all of the McRae family – have always been very close to the heart of Rallyday. We all remember where we were when Colin and Derek Ringer, co-driver won the RAC Rally to make history; it was a massive deal 25 years ago and we want to make sure it’s a massive deal 25 years on.
“We’re going to have as many of Colin’s cars on display and in action as possible and, of course, there will be a parade lap as well as lots of stories on stage from the people who helped make that moment happen.”
