Ford has posted the highest quarterly pretax profit in its 113-year history.
European operations earned more in the first three months than in all of 2015 and the automaker reported its best-ever results in North America, thanks to F-150 sales in particular, as Ford’s profit for the quarter was $3.8 billion, up from $1.7 billion a year earlier while Ford’s pre-tax profit in Europe was $434 million, compared with a $42 million loss in the same period a year ago.
Volkswagen Group plans to pay the 12 current and former members of its management board 63.24 million euros ($71.8 million) for 2015 although the brand posted a loss of 127 million euros ($144 million) in the final three months of 2015 from a profit of 780 million euros a year earlier.
