Former Cardiff car dealer Ken Thorne has died.
He started the business in 1964 and built it up into four car supermarkets in South Wales, including Britain’s biggest Daihatsu dealership, but it hit financial trouble in 2002 and 230 staff lost their jobs as it amassed £15.4M in debt.
As the plant celebrates its 9M car, production has started on Nissan’s new extra-large press at its manufacturing plant in Sunderland.

Two men who sold more than £100,000 worth of stolen cars to the police during a six-month sting have been jailed at Cardiff Crown Court.
Dean Cronin, 41, and Daniel Gordon, 28, both from Cardiff, were behind a campaign which saw luxury cars being stolen from driveways across south Wales, pleaded guilty to conspiring to handle stolen goods and Cronin was jailed for three-and-a-half years and Gordon for 20 months.
