An Uber-style community transport app for NHS patients in the Valleys is being considered by the Ministerial Taskforce for the South Wales Valleys.
The app for patients who need to travel to hospital for appointments and treatment would bring together all providers of community transport to share vehicles and reduce wasted trips.
Car thieves have raised their game and 32,000 more people were victims last year, according to annual statistics.
“There’s a lot drivers can do to reduce the chances of being a victim of this sort of crime – from always parking in well-lit, public places and making sure their vehicle’s software is up-to-date, right through to installing ‘low tech’ equipment like steering wheel locks that could be enough to deter thieves,” said RAC insurance spokesman Simon Williams.
More than one in five (21%) millennials said that buying a new car is the top experience everyone should have at least once in a lifetime, beating other typical bucket list items, such as seeing their favourite bands (11%) and taking gap years (3%).
However, it’s the over 55s who are more likely to make such a purchase within the next year, they told loan company Wonga.
The extent of British consumers’ reliance on commercial vehicles was revealed by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders.
Responding to a YouGov survey commissioned by the trade body, almost nine in 10 people (88%) said they believed their life would be negatively impacted if their use of at least one CV-driven service such as rubbish collection, bus services and online deliveries was restricted.
Ford will drop traditional saloons in the US and concentrate on its Mustang and Focus Active SUV from the end of this year.
It will still push its pickups and vans and increase alternative fuel models but believes demand for the three-box saloons has become uneconomic to meet, and it will also look at other low yielding sections of the business outside its core operations.
