Tony Newman, head of motor claims at Allianz said, “The lady got the ‘knock at the door’ that’s every parent’s worst nightmare. Through my professional life I’m all too familiar with the real life tragedies that cross our desks every day.
“I’m also aware that a disproportionate number of those tragedies involve young lives and were completely avoidable. Young drivers aren’t reckless. They are simply inexperienced.”

Tony added: “It’s not easy to ask your young son or daughter to remember they are inexperienced drivers and to drive cautiously without sounding preachy. But, a gentle reminder now and then is a very good idea.” | Gwent Police will be running a series of 1-day BikeSafe and 2-day ‘Bridging the Gap’ workshops between April and October which are specifically designed for motorcyclists looking for post-test training and have proved to be of benefit to riders of all levels and experience. The workshops are a mix of theory and practical sessions and will include on-road observed rides, information videos and biker-related first aid. The cost of a 1-day BikeSafe workshop is just £35 with the 2-day ‘Bridging the Gap’ workshop costing £60. The courses will start in Cwmbran on the following dates:
