A Welsh Government decision on Circuit of Wales will not be given until mid-May at the earliest.
Economy secretary Ken Skates has told AMs that there was still information outstanding on the £425M project, including investigations into the financial and business backgrounds of the people behind Heads of the Valleys Development Company.
The project was announced over five years ago when it promised about 6,000 permanent jobs and now this claim and others about the likely influx of visitors is being probed by consultants brought in by Welsh Government.
This week, Mr Skates said the developers have been late in supplying requested documents and this would delay a decision on whether or not Welsh Government would contribute half of the required funding.
A separate report on the £9M so far given by Welsh Government to the project is also being compiled.
