Well thanks to school holidays, you should avoid setting off on the 1 August if you want to steer clear of traffic hotspots, data shows.
The 26 July, 1 August, and 22 August are the busiest for Wales with a tenth of one families each date heading away, and 8am is the worst time with 34% leaving at this time.
Surveying parents across the nation, car part suppliers Euro Car Parts can reveal that this is when the UK roads will be busiest, with than one in ten families (8%) setting off for their summer holiday by car on this date.
The last week of July is the busiest week on the roads overall, with 30% leaving between 24th – 31st July.
However, if you are coming from South West England, 23 and 27 July are the days to avoid, with 7% of parents from this area setting off on each of these dates.
The South East and the North will have to fight for road space on 1 August, with 8% planning on leaving on this day.
Martin Gray from Euro Car Parts said, “Family holidays are something to cherish, but getting stuck in traffic is a surefire way of spoiling the trip from the off.
“Our research shows that late at night, or mid afternoon, are the best times to set off.”
