From bus drivers to waste disposal workers, it is revealed that just under 1.2 million driving jobs are at risk due to automation in a new study by MoneySuperMarket.
Most at risk occupations are in the regular routes categories.
The driving professions most likely to be affected include: Food Delivery Driver – The takeaway industry is most likely to see replacements with 98% chance of automation and drone delivery testing happening already; Garbage Truck Driver – There is a 93% likelihood for jobs in this sector to be mechanized with the latest prototype bin lorry created by Volvo and Taxi Driver – Taxi drivers face 89% chances of losing their job. Addison Lee has stated that the company intends to have automated vehicles by 2021.
